Meet the Mary Free Bed Seating Team
Steve Anderson, Production Supervisor
As production supervisor, Steve's specialties are fabricating complex custom seating components, contoured/poured seating systems, and custom safety beds. He also sets up powered mobility devices with complex control mounting; provides creative solutions for alternative positioning devices; and modifications for adapted sports and recreation equipment, including bikes. Steve has been a member of the Mary Free Bed team since 1982.
Michael Bolton, Senior Seating Technician
Michael joined the Mary Free Bed Orthotics & Prosthetics staff in 1991. As a senior seating technician, he specializes in fabricating complex custom seating components, custom contoured/poured seating systems, and safety beds. Michael also sets up powered mobility devices with complex control mounting, designs and fabricates adaptive positioning devices for bed or floor, and customizes shower chairs and related rehabilitation equipment.
Peggy Barbour, OTR, Clinical Specialist
Peggy serves as OrthoSEAT's clinical specialist. She handles evaluations for pediatric and adult seating and mobility; power mobility, including specialty controls; and Ride Design custom cushions. She also performs wheelchair pressure evaluations (computerized pressure mapping) for pressure ulcer prevention or management. Additionally, Peggy's responsibilities include finding creative solutions for alternative positioning outside the wheelchair (floor and bed positioning devices) and safely transporting wheelchairs and related mobility equipment. Peggy has been a Mary Free Bed O&P staff member since 1978.
Leo DelCarmen, Seating Technician
Leo has been a Mary Free Bed employee since 1989. His responsibilities as an OrthoSEAT seating technician include fabricating complex custom seating components, safety beds, and custom contoured/poured seating systems. He also customizes shower chairs and related rehabilitation equipment.
Karen Gora, MPA, OTR, ATP
As the clinical manager for Mary Free Bed O&P's Assistive Technology Program and OrthoSEAT Program, Karen's responsibilities include completing evaluations and/or training for: pediatric and adult seating and mobility; power mobility; Ride Design custom cushions; computer access; electronic aids for daily living (EADL); augmentative communication; home; child care equipment; and adaptive cycling equipment. Karen also performs wheelchair pressure evaluations (computerized pressure mapping) for pressure ulcer prevention or management. She is a RESNA-certified assistive technology practitioner and has been a Mary Free Bed employee since 1979.
Mary Hamell, COTA
Mary is a certified occupational therapy assistant for Mary Free Bed O&P's OrthoSEAT Program. She specializes in pediatric and adult seating and mobility equipment; provides options to address pressure ulcer problems; educates patients and caregivers in the use and care of assistive devices; assists in fabricating custom seating components; and provides miscellaneous self-care and home equipment options. Mary has been a Mary Free Bed employee since 1995.
Lisa Newhouse, OTR
Lisa is an occupational therapist on the OrthoSEAT team. She specializes in pediatric and adult seating and mobility evaluations; complex power mobility evaluations, including standing devices; power mobility training with complex and standard controls; Ride Design custom cushion evaluations; wheelchair pressure evaluations (computerized pressure mapping) for pressure ulcer prevention or management; and adaptive childcare equipment. Lisa has been a Mary Free Bed O&P staff member since 1994.
Amy Ortego, OTR
As an occupational therapist with the OrthoSEAT Program, Amy is responsible for evaluations for pediatric and adult seating and mobility; Ride Design custom cushions; and adaptive equipment (creative solutions for everyday problems). She also specializes in computerized pressure mapping evaluations for pressure ulcer prevention or healing and in bariatric mobility and positioning. She has been a Mary Free Bed staff member since 1987.
Thuy Phung, Upholstery Technician
Since 1996, Thuy has served as OrthoSEAT's upholstery technician. She specializes in custom upholstery seating and assistive devices; fabrication of adaptive devices for recreation; and modification of adaptive child care equipment, such as crib openings and infant carriers.
