Computer Access
Access to a computer can help many patients improve their lives. The aim of the Rehab Technology Center's computer evaluation is to identify specific assistive technology solutions or modifications that will enhance lost or limited physical, cognitive, or visual skills.
A computer or computer-related device, such as palm devices, digital recorders, and screen readers, can offer significant functional gains for many patients.
Who may benefit from a computer access evaluation?
Anyone unable to use a standard computer due to physical or cognitive limitations may benefit from a computer access evaluation, especially people who:
- need to type to compensate for loss of handwriting skills
- are unable to use a standard desk
- are returning to computer based work after an injury or illness
- need to improve personal efficiency
- need to enhance writing skills
- need technology to assist with memory and planning
- have vision limitations
- have learning disabilities such as dyslexia
