Speech Generated Devices (SGDs)
A speech generated device is a type of assistive technology device that provides an alternative way for people to make their thoughts and needs known, other than writing. SGDs range from custom-made picture boards to computer-based systems.
Speech language pathologists and occupational therapists work together with the patient, their family, and school staff to find a speech generated device that best meets their needs.
